Description: A small little three floor building with a window front. The third floor is a small apartment (not currently in use), the second floor is a bookstore, and the first floor is the cafe. The cafe has cream ceilings and baseboards, wooden floors and warm red walls. The little tables are scattered around the room with a globe light to each table that hangs from the ceiling by thick cord. At the back of the cafe is two private function booths fully lare enough for 8 people each, the booths are japanese styled with cusions of multiple colors.
If you walk past the booths you will see a staircase. These stairs lead up to the book store that is run by a friend of Cricket's family, a kindly well preserved old lady who (according to the twins) dabbles in the craft. However, Cricket has never witnessed her being anything other than a seller of books and exotic teas (that you can sample from the cafe). She speaks with an accent of English and Scottish and displays knowledge beyond even her years.
Continuing up. The third floor apartment was recently scouted by an old lady in a wheel chair who had a thick Russian-like accent. The apartment has roof access where one could start a garden of sumptuous size. It has one washroom with a fair sized tub equiped with a shower nozle. Three bedrooms, a kitchen that opens into the dining room, and a living room. It is currently unfurnished excluding the giant wooden rimmed loveseat and one very large wardrobe (in the master bedroom) that cant seem to be removed. The Maestro's planned on removing them because they were quite archaeic. The old lady and her granddaughter plan to move in sometime next month. Their reason: Privacy issues.

Tara sat in the booth at the back of the cafe sipping an earl gray tea. She was early for the meeting, waiting for Amelia and Alistair.

Cricket walked into the Cafe holding at leas three bags stuffed full with books and other assorted things.
Her mom came out of the kitchen placing a new cake in the cold display, chocolate marble cheese cake it seemed.
"Oh hi dear!" Augusta said, "Another lesson today? One day you should take them out to Lillydale. I hear its chock full of psychics. What booth are you in? I'll bring you some cake later."
"First one, with the high window." Cricket replied blowing a kiss to her mom.
Cricket walked towards the booth, took of her shoes and climbed in to perch at the head of the table.
"Hey!" Cricket said to Tara, "Hows it going?"

"Pretty good," said Tara. "You're mum is nice. She brought me some tea." Even though she had only spent five minutes with the woman, she kind of wished Agusta was her mum. At least she probably wouldn't remind her about 50 times a day to 'Just act like a lady, for goodness sake!"

"Yah...my parents are both pretty laid back, they just have attachment issues. They said they wouldn't have pulled such a fit over the lock issues if it hadn't been that the person in the most danger was me." Cricket laughed.
"Wonder why?" Two voices chimed in. The twins had arrived.
"What do you mean by that?" Cricket asked.
"Well..." Alistair started.
"I don't think we should tell Ali" Amelia said.
"Come on Ame. They were broadcasting for the world, its not like Cricket wouldn't have picked it up if she were at home."
Amelia gave in.
"Mom and Dad used to be house theives. You know, the window trade rather than pocket snatch" Alistair explained.
"God kid. You need to watch less crime shows. Your picking up on all those weird phrases." Cricket said ruffling his hair, "We'll talk more about this later. Right now were going to go over the basics. Amelia drill Tara in gathering, eliminating, and sheilding. Alistair, you and me are going to work on your defensives since Amelia got ahead of you on that.

Tara smiled. Their parents were ex-theives. That was way cool. She tried to picture her mum breaking into a house. Yeah, right. "So," she said to Amelia, "Tell me what you know."

Amelia was nervous. She'd never done this before. Of course she kept these emotions tightly shielded. No use giving Tara more issues to deal with.
"Ok first were going to work on Eliminating and Shielding. They go hand in hand with eachother. Close your eyes."
Tara complied.
"Picture focus on the origin of the emotions you sense. How far are they coming from?"
"A bit off the Manhattan boundary line" Tara replied uncertainly.
Amelia checked, yup the girls range was that far. It could get bigger but that would take a year or two.
"Alright. Now picture a bubble forming, the bubble is thing but impenetrable and it blocks out all of the emotion outside the immediate neighbourhood."
"Its gone!" Tara exclaimed, moving to open her eyes.
"Hold on! Don't open your eyes yet, hold onto that image. Now picture another shield bubble forming between the people outside this building and inside this building."

Tara did so. "Wow, that's crazy," she murmered. Not only could she now only feel the emotions of the people inside the building, but they jumped at her more quikly. She could tell that there were two people who were angry at each other, another that were completely in love.

Amelia smiled, "pretty cool huh? We're going to make one last shield. I want you to put up a shield between yourself and this room, so you cant sense anyone else but you."

Tara did. She felt one aura. It was filled with belonging and joy and amazement, with only a tinge of sadenss and discomfort that had followed her.

"Ok. You're all done. Open your eyes. Those shields might go away but give yourself a trigger, say a school bell, and everytime you hear it make sure the shields are intact. If they aren't put them back up. It'll become unconsious soon." Amelia said with a grin. Her first student and already able to put up four shields at once!
"Good job Alistair!" Cricket exclaimed.
Tara and Amelia's eyes widened. Alistair was holding a shield that warped in on two ends making the energy within it swirl and pulse.
Then the moment was over it shattered.
Alistair looked upset, "I tried so hard!"
"I know honey. I just takes work. You got it up though and your sister cant even hold it. You've got more magic in defensives then she does. She's more of an offense kinda girl." Cricekt comforted with a wink at her sister, "So, hows it going with you Tara?"

"It's going well, I guess," Tara said, trying not to beintimaidated by Alistair's sheild. Was she seriously going to be expected to be able to do that.

Cricket saw the look of worry.
"Hey, Tara, you'll be learning the basics. Thats the mandatory stuff. If you want to lear more after that then its your choice. The twins asked me to drill them in basics, I have a knack for teaching this stuff even if I don't have a lot of power in this area. So no worries. We'll get there when your ready and if you want to." Cricket said with a smile.

"Ok," she said, smiling just a little. "So, what now?"

"Well, now we wait till next meeting time. It gives us space to get used to what we learned and put it to use before we try something else." Cricket replied.
"You could say that..." Said a new cheery voice from the booth entrance, "Or, you could say 'now, dear Tara, we're having a lovely piece of cake and something hot to drink, by gift of my mother. Thank you mother'" Crickets mother mocked with a grin.
