"You guys...this really is the kids phone. It fell from her bag when I was leaving" Cricket said.
The others stared at her.
"Hey I went to Juvie! That doesn't mean I'm a criminal." Cricket said indignantly.
"No, thats exactly what it means" Kiki said with a grin.
Cricket stuck her tongue out.

(I had had a brain fart.) "True, true," Tara agreed, ignoring the bickering.

They showed up at the girl's house. It was a nice brownstone in Greenwich village. Tara run the bell. About a minute later a little girl about eight opened the door. "Hey," Tara said, "You forgot something," she pulled out the phone and card.

"Great. You took the bait!" The little girl said with glee.
"I what?" Cricket said in a low voice, bearly avoiding a growl.
"I saw you looking at that girl on the roof and you seemed more interested than a normal person. I saw more of it than you did and I've been wanting to test out my 'forgetful little girl' ploy for ages" the girl replied.
Cricket raised her eyebrow at Tara.

"Ok, then," said Tara, wondering if this kid was just a bit unhinged. "So, are you going to tell us what you know?" "Not until you tell me about the other girls," she responded. "The what?" asked Tara, feelign just a tad bit uneasy. "The other girls. When you," she getured to Cricket, "were paying attention to the jumping chick, I stuck a listening device in your pocket. So I heard your conversation, but my signal was pretty bad, so youmust have been underground or something. Who are those other girls you were talking to?"

"Wow!" said Indigo listening in on the conversation through the bug Tara had in her bag "who is this kid?" "who knows" said Anaka fine tuning the signal "but she certainly deserves an invitation as long as shes not already on the other side"

Cricket decided to take a chance, "Ok kid, we'll tell you. But first you gotta find us" Her and Tara turned and lost the kid in the crowd. They knew the kid wouldn't follow immediatly but if she really wanted the information she'd find them, and regardless; Cricket was going to find out what she knew.

Tara and Cricket took the subway and went from there to the Shadow City. "Ok," said Tara, "Let's check for that bug she said she put on you."

After frantic searching they found it. A little square electronic device with a tiny LED red light to show it was working. Cricket jimmied a few of the wires and blocked it from recieving but still allowed for them to pick up its signal. An area for one of the others, Cricket was there to break 'em not make 'em.

"Good work," Tara nodded. "Now we can be fairly sure that no one's going to listen in. But that girl is pretty smart. And she couldn't have been older than nine."

"Yup...genius kids are out there. We of all people should know." Cricekt said with a wink, "I'm fairly sure she can't listen in, it was a pretty generic device. However, with smarts like that the kid may have added some modifications that I wouldn't know to look for."
