Cricket Maestro sat at a small table for two in the far corner of the tea house. Her feet were propped up on the chair across from her own and her small leather backpack rested on the arm of her chair. A black nondescript notebook was open in front of her on the table and an equally black fountain pen lay on the blank pages.
Cricket sighed. New city, new school, new freakin' country. Yet as much as everything was new there was always one thing that never changed. People. People never changed, there were always similar mannerisms no matter where you went in the world. Cricket took comfort in that despite the fact that here she was people watching alone and back home she would have been with her friend Annie.
The bells attached to the door jangled as a new customer came in. They were dressed in black, their clothing looked handmade, and their hair was so pale it reminded Cricket of the color of albino hedgehogs. Wow what a weird comparison, Cricket shook her head slightly, might as well write it in the book. She wrote down the description of the newcomer and then signaled the waitress to order another Latte.

The newcomer intercepted the waitress with Cricket's drink. Making her way to Crickets table she sat down placed crickets drink before her and said, "hope you don't mind if I sit here"
"Not at all. As long as you don't mind a quiet atmosphere."
The girl gave Cricket a small smile and shook her head, "Not at all, sometimes you just need a little quiet. After all, too much adventure could kill you." She grinned.
Cricket grinned back, "Oh I doubt that. But yes, quiet is a necessary thing. It allows you to sift through all your daily information, place puzzle pieces together, et cetera, et cetera"
"I'm Kiki" the girl said with a light laugh, "You seem like an...interesting person, Cricket right?" She placed the contents of Crickets right pocket on the table; wallet, keys, and all.
"I-"
"See you around" And as if she'd never been there Kiki disappeared out the door into the fog that had settled around New York City.

Ananka and Kiki were in Ananka's dorm room, talking about Cricket. "So, do you think she'll take it?" Ananka asked Kiki shrugged. "I don't know. But I slipped an invitation in with her things so we'll find out this evening."

Even in the irregulars rumors have a way of getting around so most of them showed up about twenty minutes early to wait and see if the newest recruit would manage to find their way to the current meeting place.
"whats she like?" asked Indigo
"Is she cute?" asked Lacey

Emma rolled her eyes and smiled. "How old is she?" Tara asked.

Just then Cricket entered. She pause hesitantly in front of the group and her fingers were closed tightly around the strap of her small leather back pack. The corner of the nondescript black book was peaking out from the bag.
"Um, hey..." Cricket said quietly, "got your letter"

"Hey," smiled Tara, flashing her brilliant smile. "You're Cricket?" Emma rolled her eyes. "Well of course she's Cricket. How many other people have given invitations out to lately. Hey. I'm Emma. This is Tara." She lowered her voice in mock seriousness. "Say anything about her English accent and she will kill you."

"Hey all..." Cricket said with a more self assured smile. She took the chance of walking in to sit at one of the chairs. Kiki gave her an imperceptible nod from across the room and then turned her attention to the brown haired girl beside her.
Cricket's clear blue eyes swept the room subconsciously noting where everyone was, how tall they were, et cetera. She didn't know who she would have written about had she been people watching today but they all seemed nice.
Cricket turned to Tara, "People actually make fun of your accent?"

Just as Cricket was getting settled, the rest of the Irregulars came rushing in.
"We're here!" Lydia bellowed, as Alice and Danielle came in. Lydia was dressed in her dance practice outfit, Alice in her navy blue sailor type dress, and Danielle in a peasent tunic, and jeans.
As they sat down, Lydia's eyes fell on Cricket.
"Who's she?" they all asked in sync.

"Anything in the arts is mine." Lydia said, taking out shoe polish, and started polishing her dance shoes.
"Decoding things, photographic memory, and saxaphone." Danielle told her.
"Mine is piano, and a pretty good scientist." Alice said, brushing lint off her dress. "P.U. it stinks in here." she added wrinkling her nose. She glared at Lydia. "You really should use deoderant, or take a shower after practice."
"Well, I'm out, I have to restock, and excuse me if I care more about the Irregulars then my hygiene." she snapped.
"Geez..." Alice said taken aback.
"I'm sorry, somethings been bothering me." she said twirling her hair.
"What?" Alice asked.
"My sister, was beaten, stabbed, and then after got a seizure. They're not sure if she'll live." she said, brushing a tear that started to form away.
Everyone was silent. They knew, that besides Danielle, her sister was the closest to Lydia.

"How did it happen?" Emma wondered. She knew Lydia's sister and she had alwys seemed fairly nice and innocent, not the kind to get stabbed. But then again, looks could be deceptive. Tara sucked in a breath. She had never known Lydia's sister, but the thought of it reminded her of her own father.

Lydia sighed in despair. "I don't know, right now she's in a coma. One of her friends found her lying in the front of her school like that, then alerted my dad. She knew me and my dad hated each other, so she called me and told me. I've only visited her once, and she looks like she's at death's door. I'm keeping track of her, everyday. I haven't heard anything good yet." She propped her elbows on her knees, and started humming Colorblind by, Counting Crows.
OOC: I love that song!!

Cricket wasn't sure whether to say anything more than sorry to Lydia. She knew what it was like to lose a sibling, if not to death then...to discomfort. Amelia suffered what Cricket could only assume was an empathetic attack on the senses when Cricket was thrown into Juvie for the first time. Every time after that it kept getting worse and worse until she couldn't even look at Cricket. Now their only contact was through their brother, Amelia's twin, Alistair.
Lydia sat with Danielle and visually calmed down. Cricket waited a bit until everyone was settled and then answered the questions that had been directed at her.
"Well, first off I'm Cricket. I can slip almost any alarm, crack any lock and I've been working on the newer combination locks so I'm getting pretty good at that. When not with friends I'm a pavement people watcher, a fancy way of saying a stationary stalker" Cricket laughed and then turned to Emma, "If you ever want to spar I don't have a bad hand."
The room was still quiet, like they were still expecting more.
Cricket grinned, "What you guys want my life story? Hmmm...whats left to tell...Oh, I did House but after Juvie my parents put an end to that. I've played violin since I was 5. I really don't think I have anything more..."
