OOC: whats NCT?
IC: the girls quickly but quietly shut the door and retreated a ways down the corridor. "what was in there?" asked Bethan "was it magic? it looked magic!"
"uh, no not quite," she turned to the others "do we need to block this hall?"
"you cant block it!" Bethan scowled and shook her head violently "if you do the fairy's will get trapped down here with the rats"
"there's no fairies Bethan" indigo sighed, maybe less fairy tales would be good for the little girl
"yes there is, i saw some come out, I came to get you but they were gone by the time i got back"
"there were people down here!"
"mmm-hmmm, fairies with wings and everything, they came from in there" she gestured at the giant door

OOC: The New City Theatre
IC: "Bethan how big were these fairies?" Cricket asked, she was a total believer in their existance and all but...something didn't add up.

Bethan looked like she might cry.
"Oh, Bethan honey...I'm not saying you were wrong I just don't think it adds up." Cricket said trying to console the little girl.

"Yeah," Emma said. She wanted to say that she did think Bethan was wrong, but had a feeling that wouldn't go over to well. "Can you explain exactly what happened?"

"well you guys were being all boring" she signed and Indigo translated "so I went exploring and I came here, then I saw that big door open and a bunch of fairies came out" "how many?" indigo interrupted "oh like six or seven maybe" "and what made them fairies?" "they had dresses made of leaves and wings that moved and they glowed in the dark and they weren't grown up size, the were little" "how little" "shorter than me, maybe, they were really far away and they seemed short next to the door, I tried to follow them but they disappeared, so then I tried to open the door but it was too heavy so I came back to get your guys"

"Ok...Bethan, would you sneak over to the door and measure show us from here how tall they would have been?" Cricket asked.
Bethan scampered off. When she was out of earshot Cricket spoke.
"I think they may have been children from a play or even just adults. However, I am prepared to be wrong. It could be that the prop room leads into here.... No, that's not right........" Cricket trailed off, "Sorry guys, I was just thinking that this all seems really familiar and I think I remember why. I used to have an...uncle of sorts who lived in the city. "He was a rather eccentric theatre director and I remember he would pick me up at the airport and then we'd arrive where he worked, after he was finished we'd walk down this big staircase and I'd spen all my time with the stuf in his collection. He was about 90 something...not literally, but he was pretty old. Anyway, I think this is his room! It wasn't connected to the shadow city anyway, we were the ones who created the entrance."
Bethan started to gesture the approximate height of the "fairies".
"Thats good Bethan! I think we got the info!" Cricket called back.

"Is this uncle still around by any chance?" Emma asked, though if he was as old as Cricket said she couldn't imagine he would be.

"Nope. Last we hear from him he was locking all his stuff up so no one could get in, buying an 18th century ship and sailing off into the distance. He didn't know how to sail..." Cricket murmered.

Emma nodded and dropped it. "But I wonder what he could've been doing?" she speculated. "Did he seem particularly criminal to you, or just eccentric?"

Well there was that one Quackenbush guy......no, those stories weren't relevent. Totally a tale he made up to put her to sleep.
"No just eccentric. He was obsessed with the mysteries of the world and particularly interested in the bermuda triangle"

"Well, I don't know what that has to do with the tunnels. Or with the fairies. We need more. Let's go get Kiki and think what she thinks."

"Hang on. I want to jam the door." Cricket ran over to the door and stuffed expand-o-plast into the lock. It expanded to fill the spaces that would hold the door closed until they found a more permamnent solution.
"Kay, Lets go!" They scrambled out of the opening they had created to go meet the other irregulars.

Everyone began to walk back down the hill away from the door but Bethan refused. "i wana go find the fairies" "we cant we need to go get Kiki" Ash explained "I want to see the fairies" Bethan scowled and refused to move "they weren't even real fairies" Ash was getting exasperated "common we have to go" "No. Cricket believes me, and Kiki would to" "okay fine, lets go get kiki so you can show her" NO "Then were leaving without you" the older girl turned away and began to walk towards the others, expecting that her sister would follow. Ten steps, twenty, twenty-five, Ash turned and stomped back ready to simply drag the little girl along with her but as soon as she got within ten feet Bethan bolted down the hall past the door and into the darkness beyond.

"damn..." Ash growled.
"Ok. Don't panic." Cricket said, "We need to find Kiki. Emma can you go get her? I'll take Ash and find Bethan. The others have a tracking device so it shouldn't be a problem fo find us."
